Christmas in the Park

Tonight we went to see Christmas in the Park in San Jose. It is the 30th anniversary of the event. Tuk and I always look forward to going each year.

Kit missed her nap and fell asleep in the car on the way over. Took her a while to warm up to the event.

Last week we got a 50mm f1.4 lens. All of these photos were taken using it; almost all without using a flash.

In particular, I love how it can produce a nice fuzzy background.

There was some magical snow in the air.

A little cuddle break.

Catching a sweet moment of Tuk helping Kit with her jacket.

Although the photo is blurry, I still like it.

Kit likes watching the carnival rides.

She got tired of the paparazzi treatment.

Kit noticed all of the Nutcracker references.

The Nutcracker and Rat King statues by the outdoor skating rink.

And this display featured nutcrackers and ballerinas.

I think Kit's favorite thing was the train. She would wave hello and goodbye as it passed by.

Although Carol Jean's Sweet Shop is just a holiday display, it inspired us to seek a snack.

We went to Bijan pastry shop then sat outside to enjoy our treats. The weather was perfect: cool, not cold.

Kit picked a yummy princess cake. Tuk and I shared a delicious Napoleon.

The depth of field for the lens is very limited when positioned close to the subject, so the cake is out of focus. Yet I love how it handles the background.
