New Foods for Terry

Tonight Terry tried a couple new things.

First he tried couscous. He thought is was OK. Not much taste so there wasn't really anything to dislike.

Second he tried a grilled scallop.
He was surprised that it wasn't horrible. In true Green Eggs and Ham style he said, "Say, these are not bad!" He then had another and another.

The third new thing this evening was onion soup. He watched me make it last night and was very surprised at how different it looks compared to what he imagined. It wasn't his thing though.

We are glad Terry tried so many new things.

Point Lobos and San Juan Bautista

We went to Point Lobos yet it was too cold. The drive down Big Sur didn't look any better. After lunch in Monterey we drove back to San Juan Bautista.

Terry got to tour a California Mission.

Kit loves being around Terry.

There was a nice shady spot by the bell tower.

There was a car show going on in town too.

Dinner Out

Kit has learned a lot about language. Today she said, "Two foots is called feet."

This evening Tuk and I went out for dinner while Grandma and Terry took Kit to the park and out for pizza for dinner. The cheese plate was very nice.
Tuk had the filet and enjoyed her glass of red wine.

Great America

Terry and Kit enjoyed Great America today. Kit went on rides with her Grandma while Terry ventured out on his own.
She loves to drive cars. Next year she will be tall enough to go on more rides. We'll have to get season passes!
The water zone is fantastic.
SpongeBob, oh no!

She came home with a lovely set of butterfly wings.

Vasona Park

Diane, Sophia, Bryan and Kit met at Vasona park today for a play group outing.

They road the train.

Kit took another ride with Grandma.

And they went on the carousel several times too. Terry was a big help with the little kids.

They enjoyed a nice picnic.

There were games to play, like bowling.

Kit ran around taking pictures with her camera.

Kit was proud to ride around on Terry's shoulders.

Then it was tickle time!

We went to Saint John's for dinner, yum.

Low Tide

We got up at 4AM and headed to the tide pools for a really low tide today. We arrived at 5:45 to see an incredibly low (-1.9) tide.

For this area, the next low tide of this magnitude (-1.89) isn't for another 12 years and it will be 13 years before there is one lower than today's (-1.96).

Kit loves to eat seaweed at home. Here, she likes to look at the different varieties and feel their different textures.
Grandma found a large starfish for Kit.

A special kiss for Grandma.

Terry was texting his mom at 6AM. He wanted to text Amanda but thought it would be better if he didn't.

The morning sun is just starting to shine on the distant waves.

There were crabs and hermit crabs wandering around the tide pools.

Kit enjoys tickling the sea anenome.

As the tide started to come in we were finished exploring and started walking back to the car.

Swinging over the raging river, a feat that was repeated several times since it was so much fun.

After a quick trip to Pacifica we turned around and drove down the coast to Pescadero to visit the goat farm.

Cute goats.

We waited outside the garden until the cheese shop opened at 11:00. Afterwards we had lunch at Duarte's.

Grandma gave her a doll which she named Nam Tan, meaning sugar in Thai.

Kit stayed up late playing. Terry read her two bedtime stories, including Miss Suzy. She went off to bed and fell asleep right away. It was a long day for her but she will have happy dreams.

Father's Day & Hello Kitty Camera

Kit: "Happy Father's Day, Daddy!"
She thought for a moment and added, "It is not Kit's Day."

Dad: "Thank you, Kit. That is very sweet."

Kit: "Happy Father's Day and Kit's Day too."

Dad: "Yes, that sounds even better."

We went to Dim Sum for breakfast. Kit enjoys playing on the cars at the mall.

She took this photo of me using my camera. We discussed how she needs her own camera.

We had gelato in Palo Alto and talked about Grandma and Terry arriving later this afternoon.

Kit gave me this lovely painting she made.

She helped pit the cherries.

Which turned into a cherry pie...

And cherry ice cream.

Kit is so excited about her Grandma and cousin Terry arriving.

Kit has been running around playing with Terry and talking with Grandma.
Pop sent Kit a Hello Kitty camera. She is very proud to have her own camera.

Here are some of the photos using her camera:

Kit took this one of Terry.

The camera comes with photo editing software, so we can embellish the photos. Terry will love it!
A nice photo with Grandma.
And I took one of Kit using her camera.
