Shopping, Quote & Counting

Tonight Kit and I went to the mall together to do some last minute shopping before our trip. She was very helpful.

When we got home I fixed some items around the house. Kit said, "Daddy, next time can you fix them right away?"

Tonight she counted the rabbits in her book, "What do people do?" She counted to 36!

Kit playing with Arryan. They have fun together.

Park

Kit dressed herself today from head to toe.

Kit and I spent the day at the park. It was cold and windy so she decided to change jackets.

She climbed down this section then up a bigger section on her own for the first time.

She was really proud of herself when she made it to the top.

It meant she could go down the really big slide all by herself.

Then we enjoyed a Jamba Juice razzmatazz smoothy, yum!

For lunch she looked at each restaurant...
Pizza: No
Red Robin: No
Pasta: No
Tacos: No
Sandwich: No
Indian: No
Chinese: No
Sushi: YES

She was good about trying it but she didn't eat much.

Flying Kites with Sophia

Sophia They found a solution for being able to chat while flying kites. Fly a kite together! It was a great day to fly kites. Nice and windy with lovely clouds. Snack time. The two always make time to be silly, dance and laugh together. Flying kites is fun! The clouds were amazing.

SCPD CPA Graduation

Tonight was the final night of the Santa Clara Police Department Citizens Police Academy class. Wow, 13 weeks went by so quickly.

Here I am with the Police Chief. They shared other photos they took during the class.

Rosa and I were "unit 1" on the car stop scenarios.

They would radio us and we'd drive across the parking lot to handle a number of problems.

Sometimes the problems would escalate.

Each group did the same scenarios yet they would play out differently. Everyone restrained this guy but I actually threw him in the car!

We called "unit 2" (Kent, Dennis and Linda) for backup as these guys seemed bad.

And they were!

This is from another team. We did a bit better. We got the two with rifles as they exited, shot it out with the lady then took Rosa to the hospital.

Our group at the scenarios:
Rosa (nurse), Dennis (a Chaplain), Linda (husband is a parole officer) and Ken (ex-Army).

Then we went to the range to get some training from the range master.

Started with a simunition gun that has been converted to shoot soap pellets.

Old police revolver, Dirty Harry style, Boom!

Glock 9mm, my favorite.

Recoil is light and straight back so it is smooth and accurate.

Standard assault rifle.

Machine gun used by the SWAT team. Full auto is intense.

12 gauge shot gun with a 1 ounce slug. Highly effective yet not fun to shoot. Ouch!

Quite a fun class.

Touring the evidence lab.

Meeting the canine team.

Hannah's Birthday

The kids met at Natural Bridges Beach in Santa Cruz for Hannah's first birthday party. Tuk came down with a cold so she missed it.

The bigger kids enjoyed the tide pools.

Hannah is so cute. She's wearing Kit's old jacket. It seems so small now.

A delicious cake from Kelly's French Bakery.

Kit picked a pink butterfly cookie.

Sophia had a chocolate macaron.

Then we went to pick strawberries.

We had a nice day.

Mother's Day

An old favorite pic of Tuk and Kit.

Kit presented Tuk with a lovely mother's day card she made at school. She was very excited and proud of her work.

We took Tuk to a delicious Dim Sum brunch.

Kit had a fever so she spent much of the day snuggling up with Tuk. She had a difficult time falling asleep. Kit and I pretended we were camping in her room. After two hours she finally fell asleep on the beanbag.

Pinnacles

Kit and Sophia look forward to their Saturday hikes. This was their first time hiking at Pinnacles. It was a lovely day.

We started up a forested trail.

And climbed up some rocks.

Then we entered the caves.

They thought the caves were fantastic.

Breno and Sophia existing the caves.

Time to drink some water and share a snack.

After some more hiking it was lunch time.

We had lunch at the reservoir.

Afterwards they looked for tadpoles in the water.

Posing for a photo.

Then being silly.

They were both quite silly.

Hanging out together.

Nice hike. Where should we go next time?
