Umbrellas

Kit helped prepare garlic and chillies for dinner. Wow, it was extra spicy!

The girls wanted a night out so we used our coupon for the House of Genji. We went early so we had a private table.

Kit likes the tofu and is entertained by the chef.

The small volcano fire was nice...

But Kit really loved the "big fire!"

She was concerned that the ice cream was orange and not pink... but it turned out to be delicious.

The best part of the evening is the umbrella!

Starting Preschool

Kit is very excited about starting school. She will be going to Stratford School, a private school offering classes through eighth grade. However, her campus is focused on preschool and early elementary grades.

Today she was invited to join their Halloween party and parade. Her class is very active and fun.

She starts preschool next week and will attend two mornings a week. She already discovered a play house that she likes.

They strive to keep each student engaged. They move rapidly through the program to maintain interest. It is a busy, fun, educational 3 hours. There is also a short recess break and a snack time. There are monthly themes for music and art class as well.

She talks about joining the circle next time.

At snack time the students line up to wash their hands then take a seat.

Hands should be on their laps until everyone has been served. Then they sing a song and start eating.

Kit didn't know! She snuck a bite then complied with the rule once she was told.

She enjoyed the day and is looking forward to going back. It will be harder when mommy actually leaves.

Outside preschool, Kit will continue with the play group twice a week and swimming once a week. She now has a plan for every weekday morning:

Mon & Wed: play group
Tue & Thu: preschool
Fridays: swimming

Pop & Sweet Shop

Ed drove up and said, "I upgraded."

Although shy at first, Kit really enjoyed Pop coming down to see her this weekend.

We've been reading the Ladybird keyword series of books at bedtime. The main characters in the book, Peter and Jane, often go to the sweet shop for some candy.

Tonight we played sweet shop after dinner. We set out a plate with some dark chocolate, nuts & seeds, grapes and cheese. Kit loved it.

Dentist, Park and Swimming

Kit had her first dental exam today. She went into the exam room by herself. The staff brushed her teeth then the dentist took a look. She is very proud of herself.
Afterwards they called Madeline and met at the park.
Showing some 'tude.
Whee!

The other day Kit used a noodle during her swim class. She was very proud to not need anyone's help to swim in the pool. She shouted, "I can swim!"

No power

Last night the power went out at 4:30 and did not return until after 9:00. I made chili and Kit had broccoli with soba noodles again.
We enjoyed eating pears by the lantern light.

At bedtime we told stories instead of reading books.

Trains, Ponies & Mac-n-cheese with salsa

For Mom's day off, Kit and I rode the train in Los Gatos twice.

When the conductor shouted, "All aboard!" Kit replied, "I'm aboard!"

Next we rode the carousel twice. She even asked to ride a pony this time.

Kit says she also rode the potty once. She is very silly.

She was a big help at the grocery store too. Basically, she talks almost the entire time.

Tonight we made a lovely cornbread in a cast iron pan. (Debbie, your pan is on the way!)

We also made macaroni & cheese.
The last time I made it was in high school. I have never made it from scratch. We made some regular-style and a special version adding homemade salsa. Yum!

We thought Kit would want to try it but she said she didn't like either one and cried until we made her broccoli and soba noodles with dipping sauce.

Pumpkin Patch and Cherry Cobbler

Yesterday we joined Sophia, Bryan and Diane's families at Joan's farm and pumpkin patch in Livermore. The kids had a very nice time. Unfortunately, the camera needs to go back in for repair again. They didn't seem to test their work, grr!

Kit liked seeing the cows, goats, chickens and donkeys. She had never seen a donkey before. She thought they were great.

Last night we made cherry cobbler. I have not made it in years. It turned out better than ever. Must be the result of Kit's help.

Wednesday Play Group

Kit helped to set up the house for play group today.
They made a huge painting together.
Baby Hannah joined in too.

Monday Playgroup

Play group on Monday.

Grandma Michelle

Grandma Michelle spent the weekend with Tuk and Kit. They started with ice cream!
Then they enjoyed many delicious foods for lunch.
Kit is pretty reasonable about trying things.
Kit made some creative things out of the food, like these fish sticking out of an egg.
Afterwards they enjoyed a passion fruit drink. Kit loved it.

Library Class for Kids

Kit loves the children programs at the library.
Kit with Bryan and Kaley.
Kit with Arryan.

Guacamole & Salsa

We made homemade guacamole and salsa. Used homegrown tomatoes, deflamed white onion, roasted garlic, cilantro and Thai chili peppers.
Kit likes dressing up to go out.

Bounce Party

Last week Kit, Sophia, Diane and Bryan went bouncing.

Sliding is great fun.
