This morning Kit was pretending to have a conversation on a mobile phone with her friend Bryan. She asked if he had checked his email yet.
Last night Kit and I went to a free introductory gymnastics class at Airborne. It was very different from the classes we took through the city. It had no social or group aspects at all. In fact, at the end when the instructor stamped her hand Kit asked, "Who is she?"
After 45 minutes in class with only 5 other kids, the instructor never introduced herself. She was nice and gave instruction yet there was no social interaction.
Kit was very good. She took instruction very well. She was familiar with most of the apparatus from her classes last year. She did hand stands, hung from the rings, walked the balance beam and jumped on the trampoline (her favorite!) among other things. I was impressed with her doing a flip on the bar with the instructors help. She held on the entire time, balanced well and even tried to push herself up at the end. She has good gynmastic instincts for a beginner.
Airborne does have more and better apparatus and they focus more on technique. It is a huge facility with kids of all ages... and they will soon move into a new two-story facility. It is clearly the place to go to do well at gynmastics, not just for entertainment. We'll probably sign up after the swimming season is over.
