OysterFest 2008

Today we went to a party hosted by two of my Coe Park friends at their home in Woodside. For the past 20 years they have been hosting an OysterFest where they invite their employees, their vet, some friends from Coe Park and from other circles to get together. At the heart is an oyster bar with some 1500 to 2000 oysters of various varieties, plus clams, mussels and a huge buffet. Everyone brought a drink to share so there were many varieties of sodas, beers and wines to try as well.

Kit loved all of the attention she received. She tried many things but her favorites were a strawberry salad, a shrimp cocktail with chips, and some noodles.

I've never eaten a raw oyster before. I started by tasting some of the ones coming off the grill with cheese, bacon, ginger and such. They were fantastic. So I tried a raw one with horshradish, lemon and tabasco. DELICIOUS!
