BBQ with Dad

Thursday evening Yutaro and I went to Dad's for a little BBQ dinner.
The brats were fantastic.

Sports and Justin Bieber

Today we went to the park to play sports. We played some softball, soccer and basketball.

Dream challenged Yutaro to a free-throw contest, first to 10 wins. Dream lead 6:0 then got cold. Yutaro came back to win 6:10. It was very fun!

Then one of Dream's friends arrived, an exchange student from China. First I heard of it was Dream yelling, "Shut up! I can do it." Then she took the ball from him, pivited around and made a basket. Swoosh!

I received a VISA promotion for concert tickets. Dream got a discount on two tickets to see JUSTIN BIEBER [scream!] in San Jose next month. She invited her friend, Anna. [more screams!]

Thai Temple

We went to the Thai temple. Except for the weather, Dream felt like she was back in Thailand.

Yutaro tried several dishes. Most were much too spicy. But he kept trying things until he found some he liked.

We also fired up the baby Weber grill.
It can hold a ton of sausages!

Ice Cream

We took it easy on Saturday. The morning had heavy overcast. Once it burned off we ventured out for gelato.

Then everyone helped make dinner.

Football

Tonight we went to Dream's school to watch football. It was a first for Dream, Yutaro and Kit.
Tuk and Misun stayed home.

Kit smiled the entire time. She was entertained by the cheerleaders, band, game and playing with Dream and her friends.

Cheerleaders and the bruin bear mascot.

Kit liked their cheer, "What? What? What, what, what?"

After each touchdown the spirit team threw items to the fans. Dream ran over and was able to catch a shirt!

Santa Clara won 40 to 20. At the final Kit asked, "Why does it have to end?"

Yutaro

We are temporarily hosting Yutaro, a Japanese boy, as his host family placement fell through. He is a fantastic kid. We're having so much fun together.

We used Skype so I could chat with his father. His English is pretty good. He owns a ramen noodle shop in the Tokyo area.

Last night we went to St. Johns. He ordered a double cheeseburger. He kept exclaiming, "This burger is amazing!"

After eating the double cheeseburger and fries he asked if he could have another single cheeseburger! He enjoyed every bite.

Kit has lots of fun playing with Yutaro. He spent several hours reading books to her. She loved it.

Yutaro was here nearly 3 hours before he asked Dream if she has a boyfriend. I promptly emphasized the boy-only and girl-only portions of the house.

The plan is for him to stay with us through the weekend. By then they hope to find a permanent host for him. But it will likely take a bit longer.

San Francisco

Tuk and Misun went to see an art show in San Francisco. Turned out to be a disapointment. Still, we enjoyed the farmer's market at Fort Mason.

Palace of Fine Arts.

A house I like.

Santa Cruz Mountains with Sophia

We hiked a bit too far for Kit and Sophia on Saturday. I carried her for about 2 miles on the way back. Still, everyone had a great time. Dream learned the important skill of skipping a rock on water.

Drawing

Kit and I have been sick for about a week. This is why I've fallen behind on updating the blog. Hope to catch up this weekend.

Kit is back at school now. She made her first self portrait.

Kit and Dream used chalk to draw a picture of our family.
