Princess Kit

Kit likes to go around saying, "Today is your lucky day. Forsooth, I am a princess!"

Then she uses her royal butterfly wings to flutter around the room.

She was inspired by this video of Natalie Portman and Elmo on Sesame Street.

Plants, Spelling and Singing

Kit's first batch of cucumbers is ready for harvesting. She has lots of them. They are delicious.

Kit likes to spell her name.

Letter order, direction and orientation are guidelines.

I love to listen to Kit singing a song. Her voice is so sweet. She often omits or changes the words, as in this song:

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

"The itsy bitsy spider went up spider spout.
Down came rain, and washed spider out.
Up came sun, and dried up the rain.
Itsy bitsy spider went up spider again."

Thai Temple

Kit likes going to the Thai temple. She looks forward to the traditions, people and foods.

Kit does a very nice wai.

Outside we get ready to make an offering to the monks.

Kit waits patiently.

She gets ready.

An orange for the head monk.

After each offering she gives a wai.

There are several nen, junior or student monks, during the summer season.

She gives each nen a nice wai too.

Kit watches as they continue down the line.

Megan's Birthday Party

This morning we went to Dim Sum. She was happy to see Li bring her a plate of custard.

Afterwards she played on the fire truck.

Kit was very excited about going to Megan's birthday party. Megan is a great role model.

Many kids were getting flowers but Kit asked to have butterflies. She loves butterflies.

Kit with Ryan. He is a big second grader now. Wow. He loves magic. I would like to see his show.

Megan held her birthday party at her favorite restaurant, a sushi restaurant!

Karen gave Kit these great sunglasses. All I had to do is say, "Pose for a photo Kit."

Cards

Kit's first card was a library card. They have a special card just for kids.

Today the first card with her name on it arrived, a JAL airline mileage card, for her trip to Thailand in August. She is very proud of having her name on it.

JAL allows family members to pool their miles together, making it much easier to reach the award levels.

Kit at the Thai temple last weekend.

David and Maew

PaMaew teaching Kit some sign language including, "I love you."

Where are the photos with David?
Relaxing by the pool on a nice afternoon.
A little walk across the bridge in her nice dress and hat.
Getting a better view.

Michelle then Matt & Shahana at Larry & Gigi's

Kit and I visited Larry, Gigi, Steven, Kendall, Matt and Shahana.
Kit had fun performing for everyone. She gave Shahana a big double-handed high five.
Kit woke up this morning at 6:30 asking me to read her a story. I read to her until 8:00. We met Michelle at Coffee Society in Cupertino. While Tuk and Michelle went to the flea market Kit and I visited Larry and Gigi. Kit became very tired in the afternoon and needed a nap.

Hiking Henry Cowell State Park with Sophia

Kit and Sophia went hiking together at Henry Cowell. Kit touches the new redwood growth. It is soft. The two girls enjoyed the big trees. They are great pals and enjoy being together. Kit is a great little hiker. She probably hiked over 3 miles today. Before going over the bridge I suggested we check for any trolls. No one in our party knew what I was talking about. Source: Three Billy Goats Gruff No trolls. As we came up I told an elderly couple hiking by that we were checking for trolls. They understood. Kit and Sophia proudly pulled out their matching potty seats at the top of the mountain. Cheese! Neither would wear their own hat so they traded hats for the day. We went to Roaring Camp afterwards for ice cream. We had been hearing the trains all day.

Candy Land

Kit and I have been enjoying the Candy Land game Aunt Debbie sent. It is a lot of fun. Kit understands the game and can move her own piece.

Kit overhears a lot of the moms talking on their phones. Now she goes around talking to her husband on the phone. Oh no!

New Foods for Terry

Tonight Terry tried a couple new things.

First he tried couscous. He thought is was OK. Not much taste so there wasn't really anything to dislike.

Second he tried a grilled scallop.
He was surprised that it wasn't horrible. In true Green Eggs and Ham style he said, "Say, these are not bad!" He then had another and another.

The third new thing this evening was onion soup. He watched me make it last night and was very surprised at how different it looks compared to what he imagined. It wasn't his thing though.

We are glad Terry tried so many new things.
