Kanchanaburi

While in Thailand we checked out our land in Kanchanaburi. We renewed the lease for the lady farming the land. She mainly grows tapioca.

Rat: The New Chicken

In order to get Kit to eat we have told her that many things were chicken when, in fact, they were not. This changed during our trip to Thailand. Kit tried rat and loved it. Everything, including chicken, is now called rat. She would say, "noo eek" which means, "more rat please" in Thai.

23 Months Old

Kit turned 23 months old yesterday.


I found her playing in the closet with a toy.


She is now 32.5 inches tall and weighs 22 pounds. That puts her on pace to be 5'6" as an adult.

Two quotes from our trip to Thailand:

1) Tuk's nephew, Dong, came home from school very proud and announced (in Thai), "Aunt Tuk, today the teacher didn't have to spank me!"

2) At the checkout counter a cashier informed me that I could not purchase a case of beer during work / school hours... because it did not meet the legal minimum of 10 liters. I must purchase an additional three large bottles to comply with the law. Apparently if you are going to drink during work / school hours you must buy enough for everyone.

Back Home

The flight out of Bangkok this morning was Kit's 13th flight. Until now she has been excellent so I wondered if 13 would be unlucky for us, and it was. She threw a screaming fit upon taking her seat. Fortunately, once the plane finally got in the air she fell asleep. She was exhausted from getting up at 4:00 AM to make the flight.

When she awoke we gave her some milk. She drank it too quickly and spit it all back up. After getting everything cleaned up and her changed into a new set of clothes the "fasten seatbelt" light came on in preparation for landing. At the same moment Kit's face turned red and she hunched over saying, "Eeeeee..." After landing we were able to get to a restroom to change her again.

Fortunately, the 13th flight is behind us. At Narita airport Kit had some soba soup and played for an hour in the Kid zone.

The Kid zone also has a nice tatami-room for the Kids to enjoy.

She was perfect on the flight to San Francisco, her 14th flight. She even helped collect the luggage.

Stuck in Thailand

Well, with the airport closed we're "stuck" in Thailand for the time being. The regional airports typically all link through Bangkok. Until they establish direct flights and expand capability to handle more international departures we, and about 100,000 of our fellow foreigner friends, are stuck.

Thailand

Kit is having a great time with her relatives in Thailand.
Last Sunday Kit and I took a day off to explore Bangkok together, just the two of us. We took an express taxi boat down the Chao Praya river.
Kit liked being on a boat and pointing to the other boats. We transferred to the sky train, exiting at Siam Square to tour the large Siam Paragon mall. After Kit's nap we retraced our steps to meet up with Tuk.

Ardenwood & Thai Festival

After enjoying lunch at the Thai temple we headed to Ardenwood to walk around the farm. Kit enjoyed the chickens, rabbits, goats and sheep. At one point she went, "Baa!" like a sheep then cracked up laughing.

Kit is extremely helpful and sweet.

We often camp out downstairs. Kit likes to help set up our bed. First she will help carry out the pillows while I carry the blankets. Then she helps hold a corner of the blanket while we move it into position. It is very cute.


She also helps put away the plastic containers from the dishwasher into the cabinets. She likes to help with the laundry too. She is very proud to participate in these activities but she says she doesn't know how to cook yet.


I did not feel well yesterday and Kit was very sweet to take care of me. She would pat me on the back and bring water for me. She didn't whine or cry when I couldn't carry her around and play.

This weekend we helped Dad set up his weight set in the garage. For lunch we walked to a local Chinese restaurant where Tuk and I decided to try duck tongue. Well, I guess it was QUACK! worth trying once as there were no QUACK! ill effects from it.

Halloween and first sentence

Kit dressed up as a cute scarecrow. We ran into Dorothy, Toto, a lion and R2D2.

She enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and seeing so many kids. She got a ton of candy for such a little kid.
Kit asked to play pizza which, of course, means to play with play-doh. Aunt Debbie showed her how to make a play-doh pizza. I made a turtle and asked Kit if she liked it. She answered with her first three word sentence, "I like it." She was so proud of herself for saying a sentence that she kept repeating it over and over.
