Last month Kit and I went to feed the ducks at the Palo Alto Baylands duck pond.
We went to JJ&F market to buy things for lunch.
They still stock the small soda bottles in the same spot where Debbie and I used to buy them. We would often redeem the empty soda bottles we collected on the way to the store for free sodas! Debbie would get an orange soda and I would get either a rootbeer or a Dr. Pepper.
Then we enjoyed our picnic lunch in the back of the Jeep at the Palo Alto airport.

Read her first book
!Kit has been reading words and pages for quite some time. Last night she read her first entire book! It was Ladybird book 1b. The book contains 50 pages, with a picture on every other page. She is quite proud.
I made a special ribbon for her achievement.
In other news, Kit also received a new swimming ribbon. She is now an intermediate level swimmer

Mount Shasta with Sophia and Diane
Kit joined her friends for Thanksgiving in Mount Shasta.
We went caving too. Here is a view of the lake outside the caves.
The three girls had a great time together.
Kit is the oldest and enjoys reading a bedtime story to the other two girls.
View from the backyard of the house we rented.

Abalone and Butterflies
Kit and I ventured out to Davenport last weekend to visit an abalone farm.
I was thinking: DELICIOUS!
Kit was thinking: PRETTY SHELLS!
Afterwards we went to Natural Bridges to see the butterflies.
Kit held onto her abalone shell the entire day and night.
They are delicious.
And the shells are lovely.

Kit loves going to the play.
Kit is in the young children acting group. The older students were in the play so Kit knews many of them.

Kit's Room
Kit helped me shop at Costco. We found these lovely Tinkerbell wall stickers.
Kit said she was ready to sleep in her own room tonight. We started decorating the walls, adding night lights, and moving her stuffed animals into the room. She chose "Ma Moo" to hold at night. Kit was concerned about Tuk though. She instructed me to make sure I hold Tuk since she needs cuddles.
I read Kit three stories and brushed her teeth. She got good night kisses. Then she asked me to stay at the foot of her bed until she fell asleep. So I sang some songs to her while she fell asleep.
Kit woke up in the middle of the night to pee, something we rehearsed. She returned to her bed and went back to sleep. She was very proud of herself in the morning.

Tarantula Festival with Sophia
Kit and Sophia helped me run the information booth at the Tarantula Festival.
They made their own tarantulas.
And listened to the music, by The Tarantulas.
There were snakes too.
Kit touched a gopher snake and a California king snake.
Then we went hiking.
Kit and Sophia hiked nearly 5 miles.
It was a very nice day for hiking.
We took a little break.
First time the Jeep touched dirt.

San Jose with Tuk
Tuk joined us today for lunch and Tech Museum. Now she knows our secret lunch spot. Tuk loved it so maybe she will join us more often.
San Jose with Granddad
We took lightrail downtown with Granddad.
Interesting sign.
Started at the Tech Museum where we saw the movie, Born to be Wild.
After lunch we walked to the CDM for more fun. Kit painted a rock.
She likes the merry-go-round that casts shadows onto the wall.
Kit tries to get Granddad wet.
And she sits in an old stage coach.
Took the lightrail back home but stopped at the park for some more playtime first.

Palo Alto
Kit and I took Caltrain from Santa Clara to Palo Alto for the day. We sat upstairs.
We enjoyed Patxi's Chicago-style stuffed pizza.
The wait was 40 minutes but worth it! We had fun coloring and chatting.
Then we walked around downtown.
Caught the train back to Santa Clara.
Had an ice cream at Baskin Robbins.
And played in the park before going home.
